Hello, my name is Phil McConnell and I have been playing the Highland bagpipes for 45 years. As a member of the Royal Artillery Army Pipe Band Liverpool, I have played on Horse Guards Parade and over the years, I have been a member of the Clan McLeod Pipe Band, Chorley Pipe Band and at present, I am a member of the Warrington Pipe Band.
When I was very young, I lived in Fort Augustus in the Highlands of Scotland located at the Southern end of Loch Ness , before my father and mother moved to Liverpool – the home of my mother. My grand father and great grand father were both marine engineers on a tug boat called the Scott and lived on the Canal side. My father an ex Scots Guardsman and his two brothers and two sisters were born and grew up there. My Aunties lived there until retirement age before moving to Inverness.
