About me
Hello, my name is Phil McConnell and I have been playing the Highland bagpipes for 45 years. As a member of the Royal Artillery Army Pipe Band Liverpool, I have played on Horse Guards Parade and over the years, I have been a member of the Clan McLeod Pipe Band, Chorley Pipe Band and at present, I am a member of the Warrington Pipe Band.
When I was very young, I lived in Fort Augustus in the Highlands of Scotland located at the Southern end of Loch Ness, before my father and mother moved to Liverpool – the home of my mother. My grandfather and great grandfather were both marine engineers on a tugboat called the Scott and lived on the Canal side. My father an ex Scots Guardsman and his two brothers and two sisters were born and grew up there. My Aunties lived there until retirement age before moving to Inverness.

The Sound of the Bagpiper
My passion allows me to offer my services as a bagpiper to many local parades and events as well as offering services to the public playing at weddings, funerals, burns night celebrations, anniversaries, New Year's Eve events and birthdays.
The Sound of the Bagpiper is ideal for any ‘opening event’ and will seize the moment, lending extra emotion to the event.
The visual image of the ‘Lone Piper’ will create a memorable occasion to treasure for a very long time.
Although I am based in Liverpool, I serve Manchester and surrounding areas

Meet my wife
Pam, my wife, has helped me through the years in all my endeavours. She has worked as my secretary, my receptionist as well as my personal photographer. She has always made sure to assist me during my performances. Just like me, she also sports a uniform plaid putter-onner when helping me out during an event.
My piper band
The Warrington Pipe Band was formed in 1937 and started life as the 1st Warrington Scout band. It has been a successful band and in 1975 won the world pipe band championships in grade 3. In the same year we were proclaimed champion of champions for obtaining the highest results at all 5 major competitions that year. Only one other piper band in England has ever achieved this. The band is available for engagement either as a full band or a mini band or in smaller groups of about 3 pipers.
